Among roadside travelers lives a legend: an elusive cryptid as shy and graceful as it is rare. An encounter with this one is anything but frightening. So, do you dare approach the wondrous Mothman?
The Mothman is a customizable, handmade fantasy silicone dildo from Squidly Co. The model I'm reviewing is a size medium with a semi-gloss finish in medium firmness, and wow, is it pretty. The single-color Mothman line starts at $66.91 for a size small. So... is this cryptid worth hunting down?
About Squidly Co.
Y'all, I'm so excited about Squidly Co! They're an independent, queer- and trans-owned business making wonderfully designed, hand-poured toys out of Seattle. Their lineup is all 100% platinum-cure silicone: dildos, grinders, sheaths, packers, plugs, strokers, and even ovipositors!
Their website is well-designed and easy to use, with clear, abundant graphics for every toy. That really helps when you're trying to pick a size!
My favorite feature is the "Order From Archives" option. Click a gallery image of a past design for a model, and it fills in the order page with that design's details. SO COOL. I love this so much!
Squidly Co also isn't shy about crediting its co-creators. The site features packer-friendly underwear and swimwear lines from their partners at Mutiny Clothes, and the Mothman itself was designed by Venus at Wormhole Emporium and is now poured exclusively by Squidly Co. In a time when ripped-off designs and cheap knockoffs are everywhere, it's lovely to see indie shops and creators supporting each other. Warms my heart, honestly!
Unboxing & first impressions
My order shipped internationally with no issues whatsoever. The packaging was discreet, and everything came through customs as expected.
Inside, I was greeted by delightfully cute custom tissue paper. I love the attention to detail! The order also came with cute branded bags, which are great for storing toys away from pet hair or prying eyes.
My first impression of the Mothman was so good. The semi-gloss finish highlights the sparkly, swirling colors, which complement the toy's beautiful organic shape. It's a real beauty. The pour quality is high caliber too, with no visible defects of any kind.
Design walkthrough
The Mothman has a large but tapered head that swirls into a narrow upper shaft, then swells into a thick base with overlapping ridges. The base is flared, with some subtle balls.
The head has a really unique shape overall, sort of a rounded diamond, with distinctive notches along the rim. The whole shaft is covered in overlapping, rounded ridges that give the toy an organic look and feel. The shaft is curved, with the head reaching "upward."
The base is well proportioned, so the toy stands up on its own. It doesn't have a suction cup base, but it’s compatible with smaller-diameter suction cups. Thanks to the flared base, the Mothman is anal-safe and harness-compatible.
Note that Mothman comes in small, medium, and large sizes, as well as three finish options: matte, satin, and semi-gloss. I love this, it really gives more flexibility to the consumer, and Squidly Co has a handy description for each finish. Again, this model pictured has a semi-gloss finish, which i prefer for aesthetic reasons as well as just liking a super-smooth texture!
You can also get a Mothman in three different firmnesses: soft, medium, and firm. This toy is a medium, which is my favorite all-purpose firmness.
Materials & safety
Squidly Co. pours with platinum-cured silicone, my gold standard for body-safe, nonreactive toys. It's phthalate-free, certified skin-safe, and washes easily with soap and water.
You can also sterilize platinum-cure silicone in a few ways, which makes it safe to share or resell:
Soak in a dilute bleach solution
Boil for several minutes (note that this may cause discoloration of toys with Near-Clear silicone!)
Run a water-only cycle on the top rack of the dishwasher
Lube tip: use water- or oil-based lube with silicone toys. Silicone lube can damage them, so read those labels!
Platinum-cure silicone is also safe to store touching other platinum-cure silicone toys. Toss it in your fancy toy bin, or put it on display like I do! Just make sure it’s not in contact with reactive materials like PVC.
In-use details
So... what's it like? ;)
I'd describe the Mothman as having a "strong" shape, thanks to its curve and its width that changes all along the shaft. That has upsides and downsides.
The good: the curve makes it ergonomic for hitting the G-spot or P-spot, and the unique head is a fun way to explore sensation play in those areas.
The drawback: a strong shape might just not work for you. If you're over-sensitive in certain spots, hitting them could be unpleasant!
Partner play
I tested the Mothman with my partner, and they really enjoyed handheld topping with it! Their favorite use was standing blowjobs: they said it was easy to hold in place and really sink into the experience. As the bottom, I loved it for this too! The head shape and the taper of the upper shaft were comfortable and really hot.
I really, really value toys that remove barriers between people. Sex is about connecting, so a toy that lets you connect with your partner in a fun, satisfying, even novel way is a great thing!
Anal play
Because of that strong shape, we found the Mothman a little awkward for vigorous anal, even in medium firmness. The curve plus the firm silicone made it hard to move in and out against resistance. That said, the sensation of it inside was GREAT. Slow down with this guy to enjoy him to the fullest!
Vaginal play
I personal found the Mothman much easier to use vaginally, at least because my model is a medium firmness. It was fun to ride on it and feel it touch my g-spot, and it was also grind to grind on it with it inside me.
The aesthetic
For me, the design really added to the experience. I like fantastical but organic toys with flowing ridges and soft, subtle textures. I like alien, and the Mothman hits a sweet spot of texture and aesthetic without triggering my personal squicks. Your mileage may vary.
My one big complaint? None! This is a great toy. :D
Who should be visited by the Mothman?
I'd recommend it to:
Seasoned fantasy-toy users looking for the unique, sensual experience this design offers
Cryptid and monster-toy fans, and fantasy lovers in general
Collectors who want a highly customizable toy
Anyone who loves custom, handmade, body-safe toys and supporting small businesses
I'd skip it if:
You know textured or strongly curved toys aren't right for you
You prefer realistic designs
Price & value
Starting at $66.91, Squidly Co. is charging a fair price for the Mothman! Custom silicone toys cost more than standard adult-shop slop for good reasons: premium materials, the labor of hand-pouring, and made-to-order production. I think all of that is absolutely worth the higher price tag. (Obviously. Have you seen my collection?!)
Squidly Co. ships from the US, so if you're outside the States, budget for international shipping and any customs fees when it arrives.

Final verdict
In sum, the Squidly Co. Mothman is a premium-quality fantasy dildo for new or adventurous folks who value customization, safety, and novel designs.
The Mothman ABSOLUTELY has a permanent spot in my collection, thanks to its beauty and how fun it is for partner play. Like a moth to a flame, I keep coming back to this one.
