Jaq Comments on Interstate Obscenity Definition Act on Pride.com

Pride.com interviewed me regarding Republican Sen. Mike Lee’s (UT) proposed Interstate Obscenity Definition Act (IODA)! If passed, IODA would ban porn of any kind in the United States, at the federal level.

Obviously this is a huge threat to the freedom of speech, not only for pornographers, but for queer people of all kinds. We have already seen that loosening the legal definitions of “obscenity” is used by reactionary conservatives to reclassify all speech about homosexuality, transsexuality, and alternative ways of living as "obscene,” including information about health care, HIV prevention, and transition. The proposed act is important for EVERYONE to know about.
